Massachusetts Institute of Technology Technology Licensing Associate Officer, Material Transfer Agreements in Cambridge, Massachusetts
TECNOLOGY LICENSING ASSOCIATE OFFICER, MATERIALS TRANSFER AGREEMENTS, Technology Licensing Office (TLO), to serve as the primary liaison for MIT researchers interested in gaining access to research tools from both companies and research institutions. Will work in close collaboration with technology licensing officers, researchers, the Office of Sponsored Programs, and other members of the MIT community to provide guidance on material transfer issues and policies. Primary responsibilities include reviewing, drafting, and negotiating material transfer and other research agreements contemplating the exchange of materials. Will also be responsible for the development and implementation of administrative systems and procedures to facilitate the material transfer process, including an agreement docketing system; and play a key role identifying and implementing new strategies for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the transfer of materials into and out of MIT. Will supervise a technology licensing associate who supports this function within the office.
REQUIRED: a B.A. or B.S. degree in biology or a life sciences-related field; direct experience in a university research laboratory; strong and creative negotiation skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to interact with a wide range of people including researchers, lawyers, and licensing professionals; excellent organizational skills; good judgment; and the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a vibrant working environment. Must also be responsive and deadline oriented. A JD, MSc and Ph.D. is preferred. Familiarity with material transfer agreements in industry or research institutions would be a plus. Job #14700-O
