We are looking for a creative, collaborative, results-oriented attorney to join our growing gas regulatory practice team and represent the company in regulatory matters before state Utilities Commissions, as well as the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The qualified individual should have considerable experience in the natural gas industry, including NGA section and 4 and 5 proceedings, negotiation of transportation service, negotiated rate, and non-conforming service agreements, LDC representation, FERC compliance counseling and training, and M&A across the natural gas supply chain. State LDC rate case and rider/clause recovery dockets experience is a significant plus.
The individual should have excellent presentation and writing skills, the ability to quickly master complex legal and regulatory issues, and to work effectively across business functions in a matrixed organization.
Local and overnight travel 10-15% of the time Position is located in Charlotte, NC #LI-POST Qualifications: Required/Basic Qualifications:
Doctor of Jurisprudence degree or its equivalent from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the United States Licensed to practice law in the United States Seven (7) years, or more, of experience in a government, law firm or corporate law department, with at least five (5) years, or more,of relevant experience in the natural gas industry Strong communication and presentation skills Ability to provide practical solutions to executive management Desired Qualifications:
Utility regulatory/agency experience Effective litigation experience and skills Barred in North Carolina or eligible for comity Experience in rate making proceedings Experience in interacting with multiple stakeholders/collaborative groups in reaching multi-party resolutions Ability to work independently and with teams under deadline pressures Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously Broad, in-depth knowledge and experience in the natural gas industry Knowledge of Duke Energy and its various business operations Sound judgment and decision making skills Ability to collaborate as an effective member of the team Excellent work product and attention to detail Job: Legal
