LA based firm is seeking a legal assistant with 5 or more years of experience in Commercial Litigation, for our Chicago office. Our Legal Assistants work in partnership with their assigned attorneys and are responsible for maintaining an effective daily workflow as well as independently managing/coordinating administrative services to business clients. This is a full-time opportunity and salary will be commensurate with experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Managing assigned attorneys' calendars, dockets and appointments; Making extensive and frequent travel arrangements; eFiling in state and federal courts; Screening incoming client calls and correspondence and responding as necessary; Compose and prepare emails, confidential correspondence, reports and other complex documents; Creating and maintaining spreadsheet files, including use of formulas; Conducting attorney time entry and billing; Providing back-up support to other legal assistants; Performing other duties as assigned; Successful candidates should demonstrate the following competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to track and manage projects through completion; Ability to interact professionally with clients both on the telephone and in person; Flexible schedule; occasional work after 5pm and on weekends may be needed; Maintain a collaborative and team-oriented approach to the workplace; Be solution-oriented and a strategic thinker; Commitment to accountability; Strong sense of respect for others; Proficiency with Microsoft Word – ability to quickly format documents, use outline tools, tables of content, etc. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel – ability to independently create formulas, manipulate spreadsheet data, etc.; Knowledge of Nuance for pdf editing a plus.
