Litigation Paralegal Position Summary: The litigation paralegal works alongside attorneys during all phases of the litigation process, from the initiation of a case to the discovery period through trial and post-trial findings and appeals. The preparation can include functions such as indexing documents, obtaining background information and documents regarding dispute, drafting court papers, researching case law, organizing trial documents, briefs and boxes for trial. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Organize documents and coordinate document production. Conduct bates-stamping, redaction, duplication and indexing of documents. Set up and maintain files chronologically, numerically and/or by subject matter; Conduct various document searches and factual research; Prepare witness and matter materials for case preparation. Organize interview memos, digests and other relevant documents for attorney review and case preparation; Prepare for and assist at depositions. Under attorney supervision, gather and prepare documents, organize exhibits, take notes and handle exhibits during deposition; Prepare for and assist during trials. Organize exhibits, files and all other supporting documents, coordinate trial set-up and logistics, marking documents referred to by counsel, assist in preparation of witness testimony; Pull relevant documents, proofread papers, organize exhibits and create document indices in preparation of motion filing; Work with attorneys in the preparation and filing of all court documents. Organize briefs, exhibits and appendices; Electronic filing of documents in local courts and collar counties; Filing correspondence and/or legal documents in office filing system.
