Job Description

The Bureau of Employment Relations is an agency of the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA). We administer statutes that primarily regulate collective bargaining relationships between public sector employers (e.g. municipalities, school districts, police, and fire department) and unions. The law clerk assists an attorney on our staff with summarizing Commission decisions, and Court of Appeals and Supreme Court decisions reviewing appeals from MERC decisions.

Applicants must have completed their first or second year of law school and (a) be currently enrolled in or have completed a basic labor law course and/or (b) have labor law experience and a genuine interest in labor law. Applicants must have basic computer skills. The ability to use Microsoft Word and Lexis or Westlaw is required.

Up to 10 hours per week.
