PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
The Data Protection & Privacy Office’s mission is to work towards safeguarding SAP’s compliance with applicable data protection and privacy laws, and to support individuals in exercising their respective rights. It defines SAP’s data protection and privacy strategy and policy, advises the company on legal requirements and best practices and monitors its data processing activities. The Data Protection and Privacy Office further supports the company in analyzing and meeting data protection and privacy related market requirements and in dealing with customers, partners, authorities and policy makers worldwide.
The Data Protection and Privacy Office reports to the Executive Board. The team currently consists of 17 people and is based at SAP’s headquarters in Walldorf. It is supported by a network of data protection coordinators at SAP’s worldwide affiliates and subsidiaries and closely interacts with other global and local functions such as Global Legal, the Legal Compliance and Integrity Office, Corporate Audit, Global GRC and Global IT.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
In your role, you (f/m) will support SAP’s Data Protection Officer in all areas of responsibility defined by law and internal policies. As a lawyer in the Data Protection and Privacy Office, you will be responsible for, among other things, reviewing and advising on existing and new data processing operations, revising and drafting of policies and contract templates, advising on new business models, negotiating agreements with customers and partners of SAP and for representing SAP in administrative and court procedures.
You (f/m) will contribute to defining SAP’s data protection and privacy strategy and support SAP’s worldwide business, operational and development teams with respect to all aspects of data protection and privacy law, including also related areas of law such as e.g. telecommunications and telemedia law.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
EU-qualified lawyer with superior academic credentials
Excellent working knowledge of contract law, data protection law, telecommunications and telemedia law
Very good knowledge of other legal areas relevant to the IT industry, e.g. intellectual property laws
Desire and ability to familiarize yourself in other areas of law
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Assertive and convincing personality, high level of commitment and flexibility
Good team-working skills
Desire and ability to work in an international environment
Good project management skills and experience
Desire and ability to actively lead assigned areas of responsibility
Fluency in English is required
Proficiency in other languages, in particular German, is a big plus
Up to 10 years working experience in a law firm specialized in data protection and privacy law and IT law, in the legal department and/or the data protection office of an IT company, or equivalent. Talented beginners with superior credentials are encouraged to apply.
