NJ Employer Associate General Counsel,Hospital Enterprise in Hackensack, New Jersey

Advises all organizations within Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) Hospital and Physician Enterprise and all departments within such affiliated organizations concerning the legal/regulatory aspects of each such organization/department's operations and strategic planning. This position will have a particular emphasis in providing legal support to HMH's efforts to pro-actively address changes in the healthcare delivery and reimbursement models presently evolving in the national, regional and local arenas, including, but not limited to Hospital/Physician/Academic/Research Enterprises. The position will involve working with members of the HMH executive team, Research Staff and individual hospital administrative personnel and physicians, both employed and otherwise affiliated with HMH through various strategic collaborations, on all aspects of their relationships as necessary to develop and successfully maintain an integrated delivery system which is based upon clinical and financial integration. Day to day contract review and negotiation and legal research on various aspects of the law, including specific regulations regarding research/discovery/innovation/regulatory compliance will also be part of the position. A working knowledge of academic research/intellectual property/academics/ACOs/various models of physician arrangements and experience with same, is desired. Will work closely with administration in both Hospital Enterprise and Physician Enterprise, Enterprise Risk Management, Quality & Patient Safety, Patient Experience, and other key staff on all aspects of potential legal matters. 1. Assist HMH, Hospital Enterprise and its affiliated (academic) organizations in operational activities having legal/regulatory implications. This may include such issues as legal research, legal advice, preparation of legal arguments, and the drafting/negotiating of corporate contracts and organizational documents. 2. Reviews, revises and counsels with respect to legal implication of bylaws, rules, regulations and policy establishment. 3. Prepares legal documents, as needed. Negotiates, drafts and reviews contracts prior to execution of the document. 4. From time to time may advise HMH Hospital Enterprise and affiliated organizations' staff in operational and legal issues (e.g., consents, research protocols, policy and procedure development). 5. Reviews policies and procedures for the Legal Department. 6. Participates in educational programs on pertinent topics for medical and dental staffs and HMH and affiliated organizations' staff. Reviews applicable legislation and case law as necessary to support EVP/General Counsel, Hospital Enterprise. 7. Participates in HMH and affiliated organizations' committees, as appropriate. 8.
