The role:

Reporting to the Head of the Built Environment Group, the Head of Property is tasked primarily with:

strategic management of the LexisPSL Property module and associated practice area (in tandem with the Head of the Built Environment Group).

The role involves operational management of the LexisPSL Property module and associated practice area, and management of the Property team.

The overall purpose is to deliver a market-leading Property offering to a wide customer base.

For the right candidate this role represents an exciting opportunity to be involved in the development and maintenance of a market-leading product at the heart of LexisNexis' Legal Intelligence proposition.

Key Result Areas:

Identifying the core content and online product needs of lawyers in their practice area, and acting on customer feedback

Working with the Head of the Built Environment Group to continually review and revise strategy

Accountable for driving market-leading content offering

Developing and writing new content that is of a high standard technically and editorially

Managing and motivating a team of lawyers to meet all milestones for product delivery

Driving up usage of all content types and revenue

Inspires and motivates the team

Supporting the sales and marketing function in taking products to market

Supporting the Head of the Built Environment Group and Director of Practice Area Strategy in achieving revenue growth to budget for the LexisPSL practice area and managing costs to forecast

Supporting the Head of the Built Environment Group and Director of Practice Area Strategy in the development and execution of a practice area approach across LexisNexis, across all formats

Among other things, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Excellent technical legal knowledge—broad experience of the Property arena and industry

Strong authoring/content creation skills

Accountability for content contained in the Property practice area and orchestrate a high quality, current and market-leading content proposition across core content types such as Practice Notes, Precedents, flowcharts and checklists

Strategic planning ability—be able to create, communicate and implement a vision for the product

Thought leadership – able to identify and champion a consistent response to industry issues

Commercial accountability—ability to budget and manage resource

Effective management skills—ability to enthuse and motivate people, and to act empathetically

Product planning skills

Excellent presentation, networking and interpersonal skills—representing and being the face of the Property practice area

Although the role is not a sales role in the traditional sense, the successful candidate will also be expected to draw upon their network amongst the legal profession both to inform the services they develop, to leverage contacts to contribute to the product, and to facilitate the sales process.

Key Skills:

UK qualified lawyer with comprehensive knowledge of their practice area and experience delivering advice to clients (significant post qualification experience as a solicitor or barrister)

Excellent technical legal input—a broad practical experience of Property matters

Demonstrable experience of drafting legal advice on substantive and project/commercial issues. Demonstrable experience in drafting precedents

A real understanding of the legal community and market, and in particular the needs of Property practitioners

Accountability for content contained in the Property practice area and orchestrates a high quality, current and market-leading content proposition across core content types such as Practice Notes, Precedents, flowcharts and checklists.

Desirable skills we’re looking for:

Previous exposure to a law firm’s know-how and knowledge management strategies

Previous experience of authoring articles on legal topics

Experience in training and/or managing fellow lawyers
