IBUK is looking for a Junior Lawyer to join our rapidly growing company. The key objective of the Junior Lawyer is to assist the IBUK General Counsel in carrying out legal and regulatory work required to support IBUK current and future business initiatives.
The successful candidate will sit in Legal but will have daily interaction with the IBUK Compliance team and other lawyers based in the US.
Assisting with regulatory enquiries from the FCA and other EU regulatory authorities as well as UK and EU exchanges.
Researching and interpreting existing and forthcoming UK and EU Laws and Regulations.
Assisting with regulatory and legal projects such as MiFID II, MiFIR, GDPR and the Senior Managers and Certification Regime.
Drafting and assisting with the implementation of firm policies.
Drafting agreements, disclosures, account documentation and website materials.
Assisting with the drafting of written instructions for programmers and technology staff to respond to new regulations or the launch of new business lines.
Assisting IBUK Compliance with customer complaints, including responding to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
A UK qualified solicitor or barrister with 2-4 year experience at a law firm, financial services regulatory agency, exchange or FCA authorised broker-dealer.
Solid academic background.
High degree of comfort and fluency with computers and technology, and understanding of how technology is applied to business and regulatory problems.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a small-team environment and to work independently.
