Provides a variety of legal support services to OCDETF cases which typically includes preparation of legal documents, reviewing incoming material (i.e. complaints, motions, offers, answers, pleadings and subpoenas. Obtaining needed information from files, agents, and other sources to submit completed legal documents. Prepares legal actions such as indictments, criminal complaints, search warrants, judgments, applications, notices, affidavits, summonses, grand jury subpoenas, etc. with limited instruction from AUSA’s.
Provides a variety of clerical and administrative support to AUSA’s which typically includes receiving visitors and phone calls, creates and maintains files, assembles exhibits, organizes files for disposition or transfer to records depository, Performs docketing duties as needed, maintains calendar of assigned active cases. Tracks filing, hearing, trial dates and scheduling of conferences and proffers. Arranges travel for AUSA’s.
Produces written documents and materials utilizing a wide range of office software applications for trial preparation and courtroom presentations. This typically includes integrating complicated tables, charts and graphs from different software applications into legal documents, and marking exhibits. Provides automated litigation assistance using various software applications. Duplicates audio tapes, videotapes, CD’s and DVD’s.
Computer Skills: Applicant must have the ability to use MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Access or other data bases, Word Perfect and Adobe Acrobat Professional. Able to perform legal research in Lexis/Nexis and /or West Law.
Communication skills are extremely important. Works and interacts professionally and effectively with all levels of staff. Ability to meet established deadlines and work as a team player in a professional office. Skill in meeting and dealing with people in a courteous and tactful manner. Demonstrated ability to review a wide variety of documents, both legal and non-legal documents, including Motions and briefs, and a variety of legal correspondence.
Compiles and records production data for industrial establishments to compare records and reports on volume of production, consumption of material, quality control, and other aspects of production.
Compiles and records production data from such documents as customer orders, work tickets, product specifications, and individual worker production sheets, following prescribed recording procedures and using typewriter and other devices. Calculates such factors as types and quantities of items produced, materials used, amount of scrap, frequency of defects, and worker and department production rates, using adding machine or calculator. Writes production reports based on data compiled, tabulated and computed, following prescribed formats. Maintains files of documents used and prepared. Compiles from customer orders and other specifications detailed production sheets or work tickets for use by production workers as guides in assembly or manufacture of products. Prepares written work schedules based on established guidelines and priorities. Compiles material inventory records and prepares requisitions for procurement of materials and supplies. Charts production, using chart, graph, or pegboard, based on statistics compiled for reference by production and management personnel. Sorts and distributes work tickets or material to workers. May compute wages from employee time cards and post wage data on records used for preparation of payroll.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
One year of experience on major litigation support projects or undergraduate degree. Certain assignments may require experience or substantial undergraduate coursework in, for example, finance/accounting, health care, or substantial experience in the legal environment or in information technology
