New York State Civil Service Assistant Attorney General - Environmental Protection Bureau (NYC) in New York, New York
Applicants should have a minimum of two (2) years of experience litigating environmental, energy, or similarly-complex cases in state and federal courts and agencies. Excellent writing, research, and critical analytical skills are essential, as is the ability to develop and complete litigation, policy initiatives and filings in a timely manner. Candidates should have litigated affirmative and defensive cases involving judicial review of administrative actions, rulemakings, and adjudicatory proceedings as well as have experience in synthesizing information and building cases in evolving public policy or technical areas. Applicants should identify their experience in energy, environmental, public health and safety, natural resources, land use, and/or commercial cases. Former judicial law clerks are encouraged to apply.
In addition, the applicant must demonstrate a commitment to public service and the ability to work well with members of the public, scientific or technical staff, expert or fact witnesses, administrative agencies, and other members of a litigation team. Applicants should describe any experience with electronic discovery and trial preparation platforms.
Applicants must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York State and be admitted to practice law in New York State. In addition, the Public Officers Law requires that attorneys in the Office be citizens of the United States. ## Duties Description The Environmental Protection Bureau in the Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) is seeking an attorney for its Albany office.
