POSITION SUMMARY:

Member of the litigation team with primary responsibility for litigation support for the institutional retirement business with focus on discovery and class action litigation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Under limited supervision, performs day-to-day paralegal activities; supports complex, litigation-related initiatives and/or matters with particular focus on discovery, document collection, organization, preservation and production. Assists with drafting legal correspondence. Applies strong understanding of applicable practice areas, as well as federal and state regulatory issues / processes, to provide efficient and accurate paralegal services; may identify enhancements to area processes. Develops, and may recommend, alternative approaches to operational issues of low to moderate complexity in order to minimize business risks. May process, analyze, and summarize more complex legal proceedings. Prepares periodic and/or ad hoc reports. Performs research, fact investigation and resolves inquiries. Participates on, and may lead, one or more project team(s) for low to moderately complex area initiatives.

Works under limited supervision. Assigned work on a project basis. Confers with attorneys on non-routine, complex research and outcomes.

  • Ability to perform assigned responsibilities with minimum supervision and is able to receive and act upon instructions from more senior members of project teams.

  • Attentive to detail and capable of filing and organizing project materials in an orderly and timely fashion.

  • Manages project deadlines; is solution-oriented; highly organized; leads by example through personal commitment to the team, the clients and the company.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Litigation paralegal experience is required; 5-10 years’ experience is preferred.

  • Experience in one of the following specialties: E-Discovery, Pension/ERISA, insurance claims, class action, complex commercial litigation, multi-district litigation is preferred.
