An internship at The Orchard offers students a unique hands-on experience in the exciting and fast-growing field of media distribution and intellectual property management. Our internships are unpaid.

We’re looking for smart, driven, enthusiastic, resourceful and fun people to join our Legal team at the Orchard. Applicants should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be timely, responsible, wiling to work in a high pace organization and have a passion for music.

  • Prepare legal correspondence such as cease and desist letters and responses to subpoenas.

  • Review and draft various legal agreements and amendments, including master use and synchronization licenses, and YouTube channel administration amendments.

  • Create deal memos including summaries of contractual licensing terms and restrictions.

  • Conduct legal and factual research and analysis on matters concerning Orchard, its affiliates, its licensees and its label clients.

  • Assist and collaborate with the legal team on general matters.


  • Must be a college student enrolled in a class and receiving credit specifically for this internship. Interns will need to provide documentation verifying enrollment prior to their start date.

  • Must be enrolled in a Juris Doctor program at an accredited law school with a GPA of 3.0 or above (preferred 2L ranking or higher).

  • Must possess excellent legal writing, research, computer literacy, and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be well organized, detail-oriented, enthusiastic and able to flourish in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be a self-starter and possess a strong work ethic.

  • Should have a demonstrated interest in entertainment and intellectual property law through academic involvement beyond coursework (e.g., academic organizations, Moot Court, law review, etc.) or prior experience in related field.
