Description:

U-Haul International, Inc. seeks a highly motivated and organized paralegal to join its Legal Department. The candidate will work within the Corporate Team of the Legal Department and will provide support for corporate transactions such as fleet and real estate financings and real estate acquisitions, and will assist with the corporate governance of the parent corporation and its numerous direct and indirect subsidiaries.

Job duties will include, without limitation, formation of new legal entities; preparation and distribution of meeting minutes and consent resolutions; management of the flow of documents in corporate transactions; preparation of contracts, deeds and other relevant transactional documents; assembling and distribution of Board of Director meeting materials; research; preparation of organizational charts; communication with outside counsel; and other special project’s as needed.

The candidate may also be cross-trained to serve as a backup for the corporate subsidiary maintenance program, which involves performing online and paper filings with governmental authorities throughout the US and Canada to ensure that the numerous subsidiary entities remain qualified to do business, in good standing and legal existence.

Requirements:

The candidate must have the intelligence and creativity to thoughtfully identify problems and create realistic and workable solutions. The candidate must be not only detail-focused and precise, but also able to comprehend the ’big picture- and overall concepts. The candidate must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills, excellent organizational abilities and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability and willingness to learn other software products used in the Legal Department. He or she must be able to interact with employees in a team-based environment and work well independently, and must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Candidate must have a minimum of 1+ of experience in a legal setting, with prior corporate or transactional law experience.

Education/Training:

Graduate of an accredited paralegal institution with a certificate or Associates Degree, and/or prior experience in corporate or transactional law.
