The J&J business model heavily leverages Acquisitions & Divestitures (A&D) as a primary strategy for growth. Enterprise-wide evolution of A&D strategy and capabilities will ensure effective and efficient transactions, while facilitating value capture and realization.

The Product Line Owner, Senior Manager – Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) will be a global leader for IT A&D transactions across the J&J Enterprise. This individual will be a member of the Enterprise IT A&D Community of Practice (CoP) and will develop and drive adoption of strategy and capabilities as well as potentially be an active participant with transactions to provide guidance and direction as it relates to all aspects of IT integrations and separations. This leader will also be accountable for the inception, development, implementation and adoption of the following, but not limited to, IT A&D Playbook, IT A&D Portal, Lessons Learned, Innovative Technology relative to A&Ds, Data, Architecture Engagement, Sourcing, Records Retention and Archiving, etc.

This position will partner directly with IT and Functional Directors/VPs, IT and Functional Program/Project Managers, A&D Transaction Steering Committees, A&D Transaction Core Teams, Enterprise IT A&D CoP leaders and individual business and IT leadership related to acquisitions and divestitures.

Due to the broad scope of the Enterprise IT A&D CoP, and given A&Ds are cross-sector with major business implications, it is crucial for this leader to have as much global experience as possible across sectors as well as shared services. Thorough understanding of business drivers, processes and functional complexity is critical, as well as robust technology expertise across a wide array of applications and infrastructure.

Other additional key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Actively engages with A&D transaction teams to provide direction and guidance as well as to ensure the use of prescribed standard repeatable processes, techniques, approaches, artifacts, etc.

  • Interact with business leaders and a matrix of global stake holders for critical decision making as well as to provide guidance and direction on A&D strategy and capabilities in the drive for standardization, value capture and realization. Will be called upon to function and influence beyond sphere of responsibility.

  • Represent the Enterprise IT A&D CoP at the Executive, Integration Management Offce (IMO)/Transition Management Office (TMO) Team and Program/Project execution levels, across the full spectrum of transactions phases (due-diligence through integration/separation completion).

  • Consults and provides direction (within IT and business), facilitates discussion, establishes trust, builds and uses cross-functional relationships to drive IT A&D objectives for value capture and realization.

  • Leadership - Should create a rapid sense of belonging and ownership across a variety of teams. Coaches and motivates same and promotes mutual support and interaction.

  • Develops A&D Best Practice Processes (and Process Improvements) via close partnership with the Enterprise IT A&D CoP.

  • Implement lessons learned for each transaction and incorporate into enterprise processes for future improvements.

  • Forge and maintain external networks to learn and inform improved practices.

  • Understands how and when to make a choice; how and when to escalate issues to higher levels.

  • Analyzes the risks and future impacts of decisions.

  • Makes decisions and takes timely independent action in pursuit of priorities.

  • Lead, collaborate, challenge and influence peers, subordinates and senior management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, in IT or related field, required.

  • Master’s Degree, in IT or related field, a plus.

  • 10+ years of professional and global IT experience necessary.

  • General global A&D experience, with expertise in global IT aspects of A&Ds, to include all phases from due diligence through integration/separation.

  • Broad and deep knowledge and experience across a wide variety of business functions (Finance, Supply Chains, Infrastructure, etc.) and associated processes, procedures, technical architecture, etc.

  • Experience with major global system implementation (ERP, Finance, OTC, P2P, etc.).

  • IT savvy and customer/market focused.

  • Previous experience working in a large, highly matrixed, global environment

  • Ability to function as a focal point of contact for enterprise A&D transactions.

  • Excellent program/project management, planning and execution skills.

  • Ability to develop and evolve long-term strategies while driving tactics.

  • Ability to manage and influence beyond sphere of responsibility in highly matrixed environments.

  • Manage a high level of complexity from both organization and business challenge perspectives.

  • Up to 20% travel, both domestic and international, may be required.
