Microsoft Corporation Immigration Paralegal in Redmond, Washington

Microsoft's Corporate, External and Legal Affairs (CELA) Group is looking for an experienced U.S. employment based Immigration Paralegal to join our U.S. Immigration Team. The U.S. Immigration Team provides legal and strategic U.S. immigration counsel to HR and Microsoft businesses worldwide, drives immigration compliance, and supports the immigration needs of foreign national employees and their families. As an Immigration Paralegal you will support the preparation and filing of Microsoft's nonimmigrant and immigrant visa petitions, working with our in-house team of attorneys and legal professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze Microsoft's visa dependent employee information and/or documentation, editing and/or drafting nonimmigrant/immigrant petitions and/or applications for submission with appropriate U.S. government agency;

  • Serve as a legal writer, drafting persuasive arguments in support of Microsoft's L-1 intracompany transfer petitions/applications as well as complex request for evidence (RFE) responses;

  • Contribute to the development of creative immigration solutions and alternatives, enabling Microsoft's foreign national population to take bold actions towards achieving business objectives;

  • Serve as a point-of-contact for Microsoft's visa dependent employees for all U.S. immigration related inquiries, including, government and program process and procedure inquires; and

  • Manage Microsoft visa dependent employee engagement, promoting positive business interactions and fostering long-term relationships with Microsoft's employees, management, and other business stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required:

  • BA/BS and 3+ years of legal immigration experience in a fast paced, high-volume, team-oriented environment.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Prior U.S. employment-based immigration experience (IV and NIV filings), in the tech industry, strongly preferred.

  • Superlative writing and analytical skills required.

  • Ability to work independently, while also being a strong collaborator with a variety of personalities across a large number of diverse internal groups, teams, divisions, and cultures.

  • Ability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines in a fast‐paced environment, prioritize workflow and adjust to frequent workload fluctuations.

  • Ability to identify and escalate issues appropriately.

  • Strong results orientation with a dedicated focus on clients.
