Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary. Some walking and bending is involved when working with records and files.

Work Environment: The work is in a typical office setting.


The Land Law Examiner (Title Records) provides operational support for the maintenance of Nevada's official title records and technical guidance for all phases of the adjudication process associated with resource land and mineral activities conducted on Nevada Public Lands.

The incumbent reviews, validates, and contributes to the adjudication of land and mineral activities prior to notation of official title and land status records. Provides technical guidance on a day-to-day basis to help resolve title and/or land status conflicts. Holds responsibility of creating, updating and maintaining the official title and land status records.

The selectee will research laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, to confirm legal land status, and ensure title and land status databases are accurate and up-to-date. Conducts program reviews to ensure compliance with data standards, and identifies the need for new standards.

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement-please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled.

For the GS-09: :One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-7 as a Land Law Examiner or work that is directly related position. Specialized experience is further defined as demonstrated examples of the following: evaluation of policy, regulations, official documents, case notations, and legal descriptions, to ensure public land records reflect land status; interpreting land records; experience maintaining official title and land status records; OR 2 full years (36 semester hours) of graduate level education leading to a master`s degree or equivalent or LL.B or J.D., if related, in a directly related field such as surveying, cartography, land use law, real estate law, land appraising or land use planning, OR an equivalent combination of experience and education as described above. For example, I have completed 1 year (18 semester hours) of graduate level education (50% of the required education), and I have at least 6 months of specialized experience which was equivalent to GS-7 in the Federal service (50% of the required experience).

You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.

This position falls under the group coverage standards for Administrative and Management positions and an Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) Land Law Examining Series.

To qualify with education, you will need to clearly state your undergraduate/graduate degree(s) and submit your college transcripts or a listing of your college courses that includes hours and grades.
