Our client is seeking a Commercial Real Estate Law Clerk to join their Transactions and Leasing group. The available position is in their Toronto office. Primary Duties: - Sound ability to manage files from beginning to end for purchases, sales and financings of multi residential, office, commercial, vacant, retail and industrial transactions, including condominium related development work, bond/surety financings and deposit trust agreement work - Experience working with leases, notices of lease and related documentation (drafting, reviewing, summarizing, registering) - Sound knowledge of and ability to read and interpret title searches, analyze title issues and make recommendations for dealing with title issues - Sound ability to draft and coordinate required documentation for closing, including closing agenda, list of critical dates, status reports, title insurance application and negotiation, title opinions and other matters - Other duties as assigned Required Skills and Knowledge: - Minimum of 8 years' experience as a law clerk in real estate within a law firm environment - Solid understanding of current legal terminology - Strong organizational and time management skills - Professional communication skills with clients, lawyers and team members - Excellent multi-tasking abilities - Proven ability to manage a large workload volume, competing priorities and demands - Sound ability to adhere to strict deadlines - Strong ability to problem solve with minimal supervision - Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, Excel, Word, Teraview and Conveyancer - Ability to work independently, take initiative and follow instructions with minimal supervision - Ability to work well within a team environment This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful, growing law firm with a competitive starting salary and full benefits package.
