Key R e s p o n s i b i l i t i es: L ead the EMEA Legal real estate matters Draft, review and negotiate leases for the Company’s retail stores, factory outlet stores, offices and storage space across Europe Manage the European lease portfolio of the Company, including lease renewals, terminations and rent reviews Prepare, negotiate, advise on and/or timely review facilities, store, office and storage related service contracts (such as architect contracts, construction contracts, millwork agreements, general contractor agreements, service & supply agreements, maintenance contracts, etc.) Identify and evaluate legal issues related to EMEA real estate leases and recommend structures and best practices to achieve business objectives Partner with business clients to address disputes involving leased properties Partner with the Global Real Estate team in New York on global leasing policies Maintain the real estate lease database (Virtual Premise/CoStar) and reporting tools Support strategic real estate initiatives, including cost savings opportunities Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all team members within the EMEA Legal Department and other internal departments Work with and manage external counselon real estate matters Management of one direct report - Legal Counsel.Requirements: Education/Experience: Qualified lawyer with 8+ years of relevant experience, including advising companies on European real estate and leasing issues and contracts, as well as hands-on experience with managing facilities and store operations contracts in Europe Recognized law degree and admitted to practice in an EU member state Solid understanding of / training in continental European legal systems Excellent command of written and spoken English, plus at least one additional European language (preferably French, German, Italian or Spanish) Required Skills: Ability to give timely, accurate and pragmatic counsel to senior management and business clients on a variety of real estate related legal topics Sound business judgment and diplomacy with the ability to analyze information, simplify complex issues, find practical solutions and communicate concisely Excellent drafting and negotiation skills with a particular focus on attention to detail Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once, prioritize work, follow through and meet deadlines Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills and ability to coordinate projects Personal Characteristics:Team player with a proven ability to integrate and adapt to new environments easily and quickly Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross- functional teams Self-starter with a high degree of flexibility and the ability to deal with a variety of different legal issues across multiple geographies and legal systems High level of integrity, ethical behaviour, loyalty and trustworthiness Sensitivity to adjust to different cultures and the proven ability to achieve objectives in very different environments (particularly in a US culture)Ralph Lauren is an equal opportunity employer.
