Position SummaryIn this challenging and dynamic role, you will have the opportunity to provide legal advice, counsel and guidance to the Individual Annuities business which is engaged in the development of retirement savings products. You will work with a team of lawyers and other professionals who are responsible for day-to-day legal support for the individual annuities that are designed, marketed and administered by the AIG life companies.
This position reports directly to the Associate General Counsel for the Individual Annuities business of AIG Life and Retirement.
The Associate Counsel position will provide legal advice, counsel and guidance to the Individual Annuities business which is engaged in the development of retirement savings products. This position will work with a team of lawyers and other professionals who are responsible for day-to-day legal support for the individual annuities that are designed, marketed and administered by the AIG life companies. This position reports directly to the Associate General Counsel for the Individual Annuities business of AIG Life and Retirement.
• Working on all aspects of legal support of annuity product design, development and marketing, including the insurance policy, underlying investment options, and disclosures to ensure compliance with state and federal law. • Drafting of all relevant documentation including registration statements filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission and review of insurance contracts filed with the state insurance departments. • The position will also require general contract review, contract drafting and negotiation in relation to ordinary course transactions and business initiatives, drafting of policies and procedures in relation to corporate and business unit initiatives, support of federal and state legislation tracking and related matters, and special projects. This position will interface with various departments within the organization including product management, product development, marketing, compliance and operations. • Additional activities may include advertising review, support of operational matters, support of regulatory exams and dealing with broker/dealer and registered investment adviser issues.
The ideal candidate should have:
0-3 years of relevant industry and/or major law firm experience.

A strong educational background including a B.A./B.S. and J.D. from an accredited law school.
Admittance to at least one state bar with a preference for the following: CA, TX, NY and/or NJ.
