Job Summary We are looking for an experienced commercial staff attorney to join our North American Legal Team. The Itron Legal Department is dedicated to providing expert legal advice in a fast-paced business environment. This position will report to a Senior Manager - Commercial Law of our North American Legal Team and will be an individual contributor in a close-knit legal team, working with peers and staff to enable their development and the development of our department. The successful candidate will be comfortable leading the Itron sales team on a deal, interacting with internal and external management, and making quick decisions that comply with company policy and strategy. The position may be located at Itron's offices in San Jose, CA, Liberty Lake, WA, Austin, TX, or Raleigh, NC and requires a consistent presence at one of those locations. Responsibilities Your day to day will consist of: Drafting and negotiating a large variety of commercial sales transactions, from standalone equipment sales agreements to complex, multi-element, solution sales agreements involving equipment, software licensing, SaaS, professional services (project management, network design, installation, etc.) managed services and maintenance and support services Creating and updating templates, negotiation guidelines, and process improvements to improve quality and reduce contract cycle time for agreements Collaborating with various functions across organization, including Sales, Finance, Operations, Product Marketing, Procurement, Information Security and Risk Management Developing strong, trusted advisor relationships with business clients and executives Education, Experience, Skills The successful candidate will be a highly collaborative, strategic individual with meaningful experience in the following areas: J.D. and license to practice law in the U.S. 5+ years as a practicing commercial attorney, ideally with top law firm or in-house experience Outstanding academic credentials, excellent communication skills and attention to detail Background in U.S. sales and/or other complex commercial transactions Experience with a contract lifecycle management tool Demonstrated ability and willingness to handle a high-volume workload in a "roll up your sleeves" environment Highest degree of personal and professional integrity and ethics Excellent negotiation skills, including "soft" skills to encourage, motivate and influence at all levels of the organization and of our customers and partners Effective communication in person, in groups, over email and in more formal documentation A practical, creative and proactive problem-solver who is confident and calm under fire and a strong team player Clean and clear drafting approach, using plain English with a minimum of legalese Focus on both rapid contract completion and contract enforceability, in equal measure Keen business sense with ability to think creatively and strategically, with a good sense of humor Strong results orientation, with a solutions-based customer focus, a commitment to providing the highest quality client service, and a desire to develop trusted advisor relationships with business clients Capability to work efficiently, meet deman
