The LexisPSL Financial Services team is looking for a full time Financial Services/Funds lawyer to deliver regulatory practical guidance, current awareness developments and industry body updates for the Financial Services legal sector. The successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer with at least five years’ practical experience dealing with legal issues in Financial Services. The ideal candidate would be familiar with the regulatory issues affecting funds and asset management.

Purpose of the role

Devise and implement a strategy for a market-leading practical guidance offering for Financial Services lawyers for LexisPSL Financial Services. This will involve working with key stakeholders across the LexisPSL portfolio, wider LexisNexis business and external practitioners to ensure that the LexisPSL Financial Services offering is of the highest quality, tailored to the needs of Financial Services practitioners.

Key roles and responsibilities

The successful candidate will fulfil the purpose of the role by:

  • Developing a strategy for a market-leading content set for our Financial Services module for allocated areas of coverage

  • Drafting and updating comprehensive financial services core content including practice notes, checklists, toolkits, precedents, timelines and Q&As for Financial Services legal practitioners

  • Monitoring and maintaining existing core content to a high standard technically and editorially

  • Working closely with the current awareness team to produce a leading current awareness offering providing Financial Services news updates of the highest quality, tailored to the needs of Financial Services lawyers

  • Keeping up to date with relevant developments in Financial Services and helping others within LexisPSL to do the same, including by ‘horizon scanning’ for upcoming developments that our external customer base and teams within LexisPSL will need to be aware of

  • Working closely with the content acquisition team and external authors to commission Financial Services practical guidance including forging external relationships with law firms and/or potential external authors to promote contributions to LexisPSL Financial Services

  • Having a detailed knowledge of the competitive landscape; forming view of strengths and weaknesses of competitors and identifying opportunities for differentiators and growth

  • Balancing competing demands in the development of relevant content, identifying priorities and meeting deadlines

  • Working proactively with other LexisPSL practice areas where it is relevant to do so to deliver complementary roadmaps

  • Having input into the development of technical solutions with our product teams, to ensure that guidance is delivered in the most efficient way possible

  • Assisting the LexisPSL Financial Services team with preparing for and thereafter participating in the LexisPSL Financial Services Consulting Editorial Board meetings

  • Where required, assisting the LexisPSL Financial Services team with customer engagements and delivering successful demonstrations of the product to customers

  • Where required, supporting the Engagements team, assisting with relevant marketing collateral and assisting with any customer feedback regarding relevant coverage areas

  • Assisting with customer queries via the LexisAsk service where required

  • Assisting the Head of the Financial Services team with delivering clear, customer-appropriate content updates where required

  • Assisting with developing an appropriate taxonomy structure for the allocated coverage areas

  • Assisting the Head of the Banking & Financial Services Group and the Head of the Financial Services team with the development and execution of a holistic practice area strategy across all products, solutions and services within the LexisNexis portfolio aimed at Financial Services practitioners

Key skills/competencies:


  • UK qualified lawyer – minimum 5 years PQE

  • Evidence that continuing professional development is pursued



Comprehensive current knowledge of Financial Services practice area and industry

(including the regulatory landscape). Candidate should have:

  • Familiarity with regulatory issues affecting funds for example AIFMD, PRIPPs, MiFID II/MiFIR, SMCR, FCA Asset Management Market Study

  • Detailed knowledge of UK and EU regulatory architecture and regulatory issues including authorisation, passporting and regulated activities

  • Real understanding of the Financial Services legal community and market and working knowledge of key developments affecting the industry


It would be desirable for candidates to be familiar with:


  • Collective Investment Schemes

  • The FCA’s regulation and supervision of consumer credit firms, the Consumer Credit Directive, Consumer Credit Acts 1974 and 2006 and FCA Handbook requirements including CONC

  • Wealth management issues for firms


  • Extensive client delivery experience

  • Evidence of being able to deliver to tight and demanding timescales on multiple projects
