To learn more, please visit the general direction of Vice President General Counsel - Labor, Employment Litigation, serve as the lead internal subject matter expert for litigation matters in the Americas, including significant claims, intellectual property disputes, and commercial cases. The candidate will also manage insured claims, including product liability cases, and serve as the internal subject matter expert for product safety-related counseling and issues. This position will be responsible for driving strategy and establishing best practices, process improvements and spend discipline relating to the region's litigation and product safety counseling. The candidate may have an opportunity to manage litigation in EMEA.Core Responsibilities:•Ensure efficient, effective and strategic management and resolution of litigation and disputes.•Drive creation of and execute on plan for optimizing region's litigation and product safety counseling to:•attain strategic or efficient outcomes;•disaggregate litigation and product safety counseling services, including transferring work to best internal or external legal service providers;•effectively reduce risk through development and adoption of best practices, process improvements, training, lessons learned and trend monitoring and prevention;•manage outside legal service providers and litigation budget including driving external counsel and vendor spend discipline; and•develop and implement methods to capture and report results and efficiency metrics that measure legal service performance and value, including optimizing matter management and e-billing technology, budgeting and cost management.•Create and deploy adoption of litigation management tools including early case assessment and budgeting discipline.•Serve as primary legal counselor to risk management, including providing advice on policy renewals, coverage issues and reserves, assisting with coverage terms and designing processes to systematically address and improve claims handling.•Regularly interface with product safety technical experts to drive systemic prevention and compliance activities, including problem-solving.•Lead preparation of and support for Contingent Liabilities Report (CLR) and processes; drive continuous improvement of same, and serve as representative at CLR meetings with senior management.•Develop and strengthen relationships with business associates to ensure understanding of the risk tolerances and strategic direction of business necessary for the provision of legal services.•Manage and develop litigation professionals including attorney(s) and paralegal(s).•Actively serve as a leader, positive role model and teacher regarding legal counseling and business skills, and Adient's leader expectation behaviors.•Identify and sponsor enterprise-wide initiatives that advance Adient's legal function.QualificationsQualifications:•JD Degree, member of a U.S. state bar association.•Minimum 12 years of relevant legal experience
