State of Utah - Jobs Assistant Attorney General in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

This Assistant Attorney General is a working level position with at least five years of experience in state and federal courts. Incumbents must practice law as an active member of the Utah State Bar in good standing. This position will represent the Utah Department of Agriculture as part of the State Agency Counsel Division. This position requires extensive legal research and administrative rule writing capabilities. The primary duties of this position will be assisting the Department of Agriculture in legal issues related to recent state law regarding the cultivation,processing and registration of industrial hemp and cannabidiol products. Additionally,the successful candidate would assist the client in establishing programs,developing administrative rules,conducting administrative enforcement and hearings,preparing legal opinions,responding to GRAMA requests,and responding to state and federal lawsuits brought against the Department of Agriculture and the state. Candidates will also assist in other representations of the Department of Agriculture,including preparing legal opinions,monitoring litigation,and reviewing contracts. This position requires excellent written and oral advocacy skills and have the experience and ability to immediately begin the rule-making process. Travel is required as incumbents will need to represent their client civil litigation and other legal proceedings throughout the State.
