What You Will Be Doing
The Role- THIS POSITION REPORTS TO OAKLAND CA AND REQUIRES A COMMUTE NO REMOTE ALLOWED
We are really looking for someone with 4-8 years of experience with law firm training and in house experience drafting and reviewing and negotiating contracts.
We are not really looking for people who:
Haven't held a position for more than 2 years//jumps around a lot. We want them to stay here longer then 2 years
Looking for people with specifically 4-8 years experience
We are not looking for someone who only has law firm experience, mostly because this probably wont be a good fit for them and probably less pay because we are a small company.
We are not looking for someone who only has in house experience, we would like them to have a little bit of both in house and a law firm.

Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating service agreements, real estate leases, licensing agreements, purchase agreements, and non-disclosure agreements;
Providing practical legal advice and support on business matters to the firms sales, development, and engineering teams;
Managing corporate governance; and
Assisting with compliance matters.
Substantial commercial contracts experience, preferably in both a big firm and in an in-house environment, negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements and drafting associated language and terms.
The ability to revise agreements, propose strategic language, and negotiate with opposing counsel.
The ability to evaluate terms from a legal and risk perspective; communicate issues to business teams; raise salient issues; propose various strategies to limit risk; and to provide practical solutions.
A commitment to always protect McKay and client confidential information; to maintain the highest ethical standards; and to provide outstanding customer service.
The Corporate Counsel will lead the commercial contracts function for the firm and work with the other members of the legal department to support the legal needs of the firm. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in growing beyond a junior role in an in-house legal department.
Minimum requirements include:
4-6 years of commercial contracts experience either working in a law firm, in-house legal department, or a combination of both.
Active membership in the California state bar in good standing.
Must live in the East Bay San Francisco Area or in San Francisco.
