Product and Privacy Counsel
Nutanix is currently seeking a Products and Privacy Counsel who can thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment to join our dynamic Legal team. This position is ideal for an attorney that wants to handle complex legal work relating to the development, launch and sale of Nutanix’s products and services through the support of the engineering, manufacturing, software, sales and other teams within Nutanix both in the U.S. and internationally.
The position will be based in San Jose, CA.
Provide a wide range of legal advice from the initial stages of product development to commercial production for an expanding suite of software products and services, including SaaS;
Integrate with, and become a trusted business adviser to, the Engineering and Product Management teams and advise on legal requests from various teams relating to product features and functionalities;
Address legal issues relating to intellectual property, software and SaaS product development, privacy and data security (particularly with respect to a SaaS product offering), software licensing, technology and commercial transactions in connection with product development;
Work directly with Engineering to design innovative solutions to privacy and security concerns, including the General Data Protection Regulation and relevant security certifications, for products and services;
Interface with various business teams, including Engineering, Product Management, Information Security, Sales, and Business Development, to negotiate, implement and manage strategic alliances and partnerships in support of product development;
Ensure compliance with U.S. and international laws and regulations dealing with intellectual property, privacy, export compliance, security certifications and advertising;
Provide subject-matter support to the Commercial Legal team in the negotiation of contracts for the sale of products and services.
Licensed to practice law in California.
Experience in product development matters, data privacy and security, intellectual property, commercial agreements, technology transactions and software licensing agreements is required.
Familiarity with both US and EU privacy norms, legal requirements, and enforcement authorities; IAPP or other applicable privacy certifications required.
At least 10 years of relevant experience, preferably at a software technology and/or SaaS company, with at least 3+ years of specialized privacy practice.
Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions to novel issues in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
