Duties and Responsibilities

•Work with the Chief Privacy Officer, the Assistant General Counsel - Global Data Privacy, the Assistant General Counsel - APAC and other members of the Data Privacy Legal function, IT, Engineering, Marketing, HR, Legal and businesses to ensure that systems, products, applications and websites comply with applicable data privacy and data protection obligations.

•Serve as subject matter expert on, and operationalize compliance efforts with respect to, data privacy laws in the APAC region, including marketing requirements (e.g., consent requirements), cross-border data transfer restrictions, data localization requirements, and website privacy policy requirements.

•May cooperate with and act as a contact point for data protection authorities on issues relating to data processing and consult with data protection authorities with regard to any other matter where appropriate.

•Work with legal counsel, management, key departments, and committees to ensure the Company has and maintains appropriate privacy consents, notices, and other documentation reflecting current organization and legal practices and requirements.

•Maintain current knowledge of applicable data privacy laws in the APAC region, including the China’s Cybersecurity Law, South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Act, Philippines’ Data Privacy Act, Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act, Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information, and Australia’s Privacy Act.

•Develop internal privacy policies and procedures and training and awareness programs, and update those documents and materials as necessary in light of changes to laws and regulations and/or company policy.

•Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments to ensure compliance with applicable data privacy laws and regulations and Company policies.

•Assist with developing and implementing strategic plans for the collection, use, and sharing of information in a manner that maximizes its value while complying with applicable data privacy laws and regulations.

•Lead effort to ensure that the Company complies with cross-border data transfer restrictions and data localization requirements in the APAC region with respect to both intra-company transfers and transfers to third parties.

•Maintain and negotiate as necessary Honeywell’s template Data Privacy Exhibits that are included in supplier agreements, and otherwise support Procurement on supplier agreements that involve data privacy issues.

•Support negotiations with customers on data privacy contractual provisions.

•Facilitate security incident investigation and response efforts for incidents that impact APAC personal data.

•Assist businesses and functions with responses to data subject requests.

•Advise businesses and functions on data privacy issues associated with mergers and acquisitions.

•Ensure compliance with obligations to register processing activities with data protection authorities in the APAC region.

•Maintain outside counsel budget, using creative fee arrangements to keep costs down.

Qualifications

•Law Degree and appropriate certifications and admissions required

•5 to 8 years practicing APAC data privacy law at a law firm or corporate in-house legal department

•Ability to handle a challenging workload

•Strong organizational and operational skills

•Strong interpersonal skills

•Excellent judgment, particularly on risk

•Executive presence

•Experience operationalizing data privacy laws across a multinational organization, preferred
