Under the supervision of the Director of Risk Management, this position is responsible for providing support to the Department’s staff for the ongoing functions of the department, assisting in legal file maintenance, litigation support and projects. This may include but is not limited to: department scheduling and calendar management; data entry support; ordering supplies; documentation for the departmental meetings and committees; scheduling of depositions and meetings; legal research; maintaining departmental spreadsheets; general research and legal research; coordinating with outside counsel and their staffs; and drafting routine correspondence.


  1. Bachelor’s degree is preferred although seven to ten years work experience in the legal field may substitute. A minimum of five years of office experience in a hospital, physician’s office, or law office as an administrative assistant. Paralegal certification or work as a paralegal is strongly preferred.

  2. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products. Must have extensive experience in establishing Excel spreadsheets, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  3. Familiarity with medical records and hospital operations.
